The cell phone manufacturing industry is one that is characterized by intense competition between the few big cell phone firms.  Thus, the industry can be described as a monopolistic market where there is constant vying for international market shares.  Aside from pursuing intensive marketing and advertisement campaigns, cell phone manufacturers engage in constant research and development in order to gain larger percentages of the global cell phone market.  In order to stay ahead of the competition, these companies need to keep incorporating technological advancements to their cell phones.  The need for this continuous advancement in cell phones has also increased due the fact that more of the world’s largest electronic companies are entering into the cell phone market.  In the past, cell phones were rather bogus devices on which people could only make phone calls.  Even doing this was not always easy because of network clarity problems.

Nowadays, the cell phones currently being sold on the market are quite simply technological marvels.  They are not only smaller than the cell phones of old, but are also more advanced in terms of their rich functionality and versatility.  On today’s stylish, compact cell phones, you can do things like take pictures, video call, download pictures/videos, listen to music, watch TV, and even surf the Internet.  What is even more outstanding is the fact that the bulk of these advancements only took place in the last decade or so.  With this in mind, one can be sure that the cell phones of the future will possess even more incredible technology inputs.

Cell Phone Plans: Though they have changed in style and capabilities over the years – and certainly in size – the basic theme of cell phones is now permanently ingrained in our society.  Cell phones help us keep in touch with each other no matter where we are; whether we are on a bus, driving in a car, or eating lunch at the local deli.  The cell phone itself is not difficult to master; what can be a formidable task is choosing between the many cell phone plans that are available today.

When you choose a cell phone plan, you are basically choosing the guidelines that will govern how you use your phone.  These guidelines include how much people pay each month to use their cell phones, whether or not people will pay more to use these cell phones outside of their calling areas, how much they will pay for long distance, text messaging, etc.  The cell phone plan that you choose will include information about all of these things.  Some plans include a straight monthly fee for unlimited local and long distance calling, with extra charges for “roaming charges”, (using your phone outside of your designated calling area).

Some plans have a monthly fee for using a certain amount of minutes each month with no roaming charges, but start charging extra when you go over those minutes within a certain time period.  When people choose plans for their cell phones, they have to take into consideration how they will be using them, such as how often they will be making calls, if they will be traveling a lot with their phones, and how often they will be text messaging as opposed to calling.  Figuring out how you will be using your phone helps you choose the plan that is right for you.
